The Dell is Northwest London’s hidden gem: an award-winning park nestled quietly behind a row of Mapesbury homes. Step inside and you’ll find a truly magical garden—beautiful, welcoming, and unforgettable. Once discovered, most people can’t help but return again and again.
Open to the public during daylight hours, The Dell may be small, but it offers something for everyone. Children love the superb play area and the pond alive with frogs, newts, and dragonflies. Adults can enjoy peaceful lawns perfect for summer afternoons, picnic tables and benches for meeting friends, and stunning garden spaces for a quiet moment among nature. Whether you’re bringing the kids, taking a stroll, or simply sitting with the birdsong, The Dell is a place to breathe.
But The Dell is far more than a beautiful park. It is a thriving community hub with a year-round calendar of free, inclusive events: the hugely popular Wild Day each summer, a magical Midsummer Opera Evening, our lively Back-to-Schoolchildren’s party in September, festive gatherings and carol-singing at Christmas, plus a regular and much-loved Gardening Club. There is always something happening.
This special place didn’t always look like this. Before its regeneration in 2005, The Dell was a derelict, unused patch of land. Its revival is an inspiring community story—read more about it in Our Story.
Today, The Dell is a true people’s park. It is run by the community through the Mapesbury Dell Trust and cared for by dedicated local volunteers who love and nurture it. Anyone can join as a member (it’s free), support our projects, and be part of this extraordinary green haven.
